Health & Safety Advisor
Health and Safety Advisor, regional based covering Nottingham, Derby and Leicester areas. Salary is circa £30,000, plus car and pension.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety professional to join a fast-paced retailer to maintain, improve and advise on all aspects of safety within the company. You may already be working within a Health & Safety role or you might be working in a role where Health & Safety forms a large part and have the desire to take this up on a full time basis.
The role will be predominately field based; 4 days covering the field and 1 administration day. Reporting into the Head of Health and Safety you will be responsible for working with the Regional, Area and Store Managers to implement the H&S policy and strategy across the company, providing expert advice across all issues. Devising plans to ensure the company exceeds statutory obligations and risk is adequately managed through a proactive H&S culture.
Managing and supporting the creation of practical procedures and safe systems of work across 130 stores
Assisting and devising plans to continually improve H&S
Conducting risk assessments, training, accident investigations and site audits (including Distribution) as appropriate.
Promoting best practice
Supporting all levels of management to ensure obligations are met
Ensuring adequate training throughout the business in liaison with Training & HR
Providing general advice
Liaising with insurance companies to manage risks at store level
Health & Safety experience either working in a full time role or a large part of your role
Excellent knowledge of H+S law and statutory requirements
Good IT skills
NEBOSH certificate desirable
The ability to influence and forge working relationships with Regional and Area Managers is essential as you will be working alongside people across the business to establish best practice and therefore not only is influencing critical but also being able to face and overcome resistance.
